in Native American communities. The video looks at the history and present-day
factors contributing to the fastest rising disease among Native American and Canadian
Native communities - diabetes.
This is a culturally sensitive video that not only covers the basics of what diabetes is
and how you get it, but also talks about factors unique to Native communities. The
program explores different ways of preventing diabetes, such as improved diet and exercise
as well as reducing stress.
For those with diabetes, the program emphasizes methods of maintaining food health and
blood suger levels. Designed for native and non-native helath professionals,
hospitals, and community groups seeking to provide diabetes information to Native
Americans.
