            TEARS OF THE RAVEN

"We have come for you. At the foot of you. So that we may be able to use you for the canoe boat." With these words 90-year old George Dalton speaks to the Spirit of the 500-year-old spruce tree he has chosen for the carving of a sea otter canoe. Dalton's canoe carving is one of the many Alaska Native spiritual and cultural events documented in TEARS OF THE RAVEN designed to bring health and hope back to Native communities suffering from alcoholism, a suicide rate twenty-six time the national average, and an overwhelming sense of hopelessness and despair.

"... A thought provoking program. Identifies and addresses problems for Indian children and most importantly, offers positive solutions."
